The Institute has been accorded special consultative status by United Nations. THPI is recipient of National and International Awards from the President of India & RCI Hong Kong Foundation International and many other awards in recognition of its outstanding performance in the field of Handicapped Welfare. It is the only institute in the field of Mental Retardation honoured with U.G.C. award.
